Schools and Outdoor Education
Learning Beyond the Classroom
At Arran Outdoor Education Centre, we believe not all classrooms have walls. Our courses are designed to develop personal and social skills through outdoor learning, delivered using critical skills techniques with the added advantage of learning in the real world.

School Programmes

Primary Schools (P7)
Our P7 programme focuses on developing personal and social skills during the transition to secondary school. Children experience many different outdoor activities, encouraging teamwork and communication in a safe environment.
Secondary Schools (S1 to S6)
Our Self-Development and Aspirations course can be modelled from S1 through to S6. Developed over many years, it encourages lifelong social skills that support young people well beyond school life.
How our courses work
- Activities include land-based and water-based outdoor pursuits.
- Daytime activities supported by evening programmes with teamwork and reflection.
- Instructor ratios: 1:12 for land activities, 1:6 for water activities.
- Children reflect on performance and develop personal goals.
